The Tubu, inhabitants of the Tibesti, the mighty mountain massif between Libya and Chad, are the only ones who receive free thermal cures here. In fact, the sulphur springs of Soboroum enjoy a very good reputation among them, because even the Saharan inhabitants are not spared rheumatism. 60 kilometres to the south-east of Bardaï, the hot springs of Soboroum smoke. The sulphurous vapours rise from the belly of the earth and the sulphur is deposited in a blue-green carpet. Soboroum is the thermal bath of Tibesti. It attracts the sick from far and wide, who plunge into the pools of running warm water. - Tibesti - Chad - 1967
