One of the last survivors of the green Sahara in Tassili N'Ajjer: the Duprez cypress (Cupressus dupreziana), called Tarut in the Tuareg language. It is about 3000 years old. The Tuareg at the foot of the tree gives a size comparison. Some trees are more than two metres in diameter. It is estimated that there are about 300 of them in the Tassil Mountains. - Algeria - 1966
