The Paracas Candelabra (El Candelabro). The figure is around 180 metres high and was carved about half a metre into the hard sandy ground. Alongside the Candelabra, other, smaller lines have also been carved into the ground. It can be seen from the sea at a distance of around 20 km. Radiocarbon dating has placed its creation around 200 BC. Who created this mysterious symbol from the pre-Inca period and what purpose it served remains unclear to this day. – Peru – 1977
