Died in the summer of 2016, Maximilien Bruggmann was one of the greatest Swiss photographers. For half a century, he has travelled the world to illustrate some sixty works, seizing the flashes of humanity and moments of eternity. He often went with his friend Jean-Claude Bourgeon to the remotest places of the Saharan desert, to meet their nomadic friends ...

Saharan Museum

To our knowledge, this is the only museum in Europe entirely dedicated to the history and people of the Sahara. Open to the public since June 2014, it is directed by Bernard Adell. The space is spread over two floors.

L' équipe

Maximilien Bruggmann and his team during the Blaka mission (1969), in the Oued Mathendous (Libya). From 1961 to 2003, Maximilien Bruggmann carried out 18 missions in the Sahara. He drew two films, several tens of thousands of photos and four books.
