The Tassili n'Ajjer is a mountain range in the Sahara in south-eastern Algeria and forms the north-western border of the Chad Basin. It is about 500 km long and consists mostly of sandstone. Erosion has formed almost 300 stone arches in the area, among other forms worth seeing. The inhabitants of the mountainous region and the surrounding desert areas belong to the Tuareg confederation of the Kel Ajjer (People of Ajjer). - Algeria - 1964
