The “Great God” is performing a mysterious ritual. His body is long, his genitals oversized, his head deformed, the bumps on his arms inexplicable. This rock painting is 1.55 m tall and can be found at the site of Sefar (Tassili n'Ajjer, Algeria).

Algerie - Tassili-n'Ajjer - Séfar - Le «Martien» n'en reste pas moins mystérieux car il évoque un rituel dont la clé nous échappe. Ce personnage mâle -le sexe est souligné - a un corps trop long. Les mains, à cinq doigts, sont dans la position dite de l'orant, mais on ne s'explique pas la nature des protubérances des deux bras, ni la forme de la tête. Il porte deux bracelets rendus par trois traits à chaque bras. A gauche, un petit personnage semble l'invoquer. Peut-être porte-t-il une ceinture ? La structure à stries verticales est sans signification connue. De mystérieux animaux cornus rendent le tableau encore plus difficile à interpréter. La scène, peinte en blanc avec des contours rouges, est pour le moins mystérieuse et peut-être magique. Les bras de l'orant mesurent 1,55 m d'une main à l'autre.

Algerie - Tassili-n'Ajjer - Séfar - Le personnage peint en blanc avec un contour sombre n'est pas sans évoquer le «Martien» déjà vu à Séfar (photo SAR-479). Mais ici, il tient une lance (?) de la main droite et quelque chose d'imprécis dans la main gauche. Un croissant figure aussi à sa droite. Le corps est très longiligne et les cuisses paraissent écartées, mais les jambes ne se poursuivent pas. Largeur du thorax : 0,44 m.

The mysterious "Martian" by Séfar recalls a ritual whose key escapes us. This male figure - the gender is highlighted - has an overlong body. The hands with five fingers are in the posture of a praying man, but the kind of protuberances on the two arms and the shape of the head are inexplicable. He wears two bracelets, which are represented by three lines on each arm. On the left side, a small figure seems to be summoning him. Perhaps he is wearing a belt? The structure with vertical grooves has no known meaning. Mysterious horned animals make the image even more difficult to interpret. The scene, painted in white with red outlines, is at least mysterious and perhaps magical. The distance from hand to hand of the praying man measures 1.55 m.
